The notion of 'international' art is currently being questioned. Art appreciation is shifting, new realities emerging, and the question is now who will be determining the direction of art in the global context. Will a limited group continue to dominate the art direction and others just go with the flow and take things for granted, or are there alternatives to be considered?
The Foundation envisions a world art scene in which egalitarian principles can flourish and plurality is possible in a dynamic that is inclusive instead of exclusive. It aims to widen the world's art platform.
CP Foundation organizes CP Artspaces; art facilities at 1350, I (read eye) Street, in Washington DC which operated from 2001 to 2004. CP Artspace located at Jl. Suryopranoto 67A Jakarta 10160 was inaugurated in March 2004, with monthly exhibitions featuring local and international artists.
The Artspace will bring hidden, ignored and marginalized art realities to the fore.
CP Foundation also organizes art events in Indonesia to accommodate the growing sense of democratic thinking. To this end CP Foundation organized the first CP Open Biennale 2003, a one month long international exhibition held in September 2003 at the National Gallery, Jakarta
The next CP Biennale will be held in September 2005.
